Sylvana Eid Biography

Twenty years ago, Sylvana Eid began her career in the Visual and Decorative Arts with painting on glass (Vitrail) and then on canvas. Sylvana has participated in several exhibitions, including Futuroscope (Beirut), Forum de Beirut, Biel, and many others.

In this unstable and ever-changing Lebanese society, the artist seeks to offer the calm and serenity to which many dreamy women like her aspire.

It is while traversing this turbulent and hectic Beirut where time never seems to stop, that she meets these women who seek immobility and space, allowing them to realize themselves, to find themselves, to flourish.

And it is from these encounters that Sylvana draws her inspiration. From these women with whom she can easily identify, she has created a fictional and dreamlike world, as a response to the din of the city, to the turpitudes of this country.

Her work has taken on another impetus since the explosion in the port of Beirut.

The fear, noise, and anguish generated by this well and truly human catastrophe made her work more intense and her objective more obvious. That of working as a soothing therapy, for her, for all women who in this society need it so much, but also for all those who aspire to this rest of the soul and the heart.

In this world made of social, economic, environmental, and political instability, Sylvana Eid sees in art this anchor point in our consciences, which brings us back to the essential and above all to balance.

An artist and a mother from Beirut, Lebanon, Sylvana Eid has been pursuing her career for twenty years. Her professional career and her family responsibilities took her away from her passion for a while. Until the evidence becomes clear, art is essential food for the soul.

Il y a vingt ans, Sylvana Eid a débuté son parcours dans les Arts Visuels et Décoratifs avec la peinture sur verre (Vitrail) puis sur toile. Sylvana a participé à plusieurs expositions, dont le Futuroscope (Beyrouth), le Forum de Beyrouth, le Biel, et bien d'autres.

Dans cette société libanaise instable et toujours en mouvement, cet artiste cherche à offrir le calme et la sérénité auxquelles de nombreuses femmes rêveuses comme elle aspirent.

C’est en parcourant cette Beyrouth si turbulente et trépidante où le temps ne semble jamais s’arrêter, qu’elle rencontre ces femmes qui recherchent l’immobilité et l’espace, leur permettant de se réaliser, de se retrouver elles-mêmes, de s’épanouir.

Et c’est de ces rencontres que Sylvana tire son inspiration. De ces femmes auxquelles elle peut aisément s’identifier, elle a créé un monde fictif et onirique, comme une réponse au fracas de la ville, aux turpitudes de ce pays.

Son travail a pris un autre essor depuis l’explosion du port de Beyrouth. La peur, le bruit et l’angoisse généré par cette catastrophe bel et bien humaine ont rendu son travail plus intense et son objectif plus évident. Celui d’œuvrer comme une thérapie apaisante, pour elle, pour toutes femmes qui dans cette société en ont tant besoin, mais aussi pour tous ceux qui aspirent à ce repos de l’âme et du cœur.

Dans ce monde fait d’instabilité sociale, économique, environnementale et politique, Sylvana Eid voit en l’art ce point d’ancrage dans nos consciences, qui nous ramène à l’essentiel et surtout à l’équilibre.

Artiste et mère à Beyrouth au Liban, Sylvana Eid poursuit son parcours depuis vingt ans. Sa carrière professionnelle et ses responsabilités familiales l’ont éloignée un temps de sa passion. Jusqu’à ce que l’évidence s’impose, l’art est une nourriture de l’âme qui lui est indispensable.
