Artist Profile: Abdul Hamid Baalbaki

- Born in Adaisseh, Marjeyoun District, 1940
- Painter, sculptor, poet, and photographer
- Former President of the Lebanese Artists Association for Painting and Sculpture 1992-1994
- Former Secretary of the Art Committee of the Cultural Council of South Lebanon
- In 1967, he joined the Department of Painting and Photography at the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University, graduating with honors in 1971.
- The university sent him to Paris on a scholarship to specialise in art from 1971 to 1974, where he earned a diploma in art from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ANSAD). He studied sculpture at the Beaux-Arts under the renowned sculptor Martin.
- He taught at the Institute of Fine Arts in Beirut from 1974 to 2004, earning the title of professor before retiring.
- He held his first solo exhibition at Gallery One in 1983 and held a comprehensive exhibition of his work at the Glass Gallery in Beirut in 1998.
- He completed a series of oil murals: Ashura, The Fall of the Christians, Exile, Civil War, and The Woodcutter.
- He held an exhibition of his photographic works at the UNESCO Hall in the summer of 2008 (84 works).
- He participated in approximately 60 group exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad.
- He has published three poetry collections: "So That There Will Be No Silence," "Thoughts on Love," and "What Does the Night Say?" and two prose books: "Colored Shells" and "Roses for Their Resting Place." He is currently preparing a number of other books on various topics, including a poetic translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
- A 350-page university study on him was completed and received an excellent rating. He has participated in numerous artistic and cultural seminars and has been the subject of dozens of interviews and dialogues with newspapers, magazines, and visual and audio media outlets in Lebanon and the Arab world. His works have been filmed in television films exceeding ten hours in length. A collection of his artistic studies and poems has been published in several Beirut-based newspapers and magazines.

رسام، ونحات، وشاعر، ومصور فوتوغرافي
رئیس سابق لجمعية الفنانين اللبنانيين للرسم والنحت ١٩٩٢ - ١٩٩٤
أمين سابق للجنة الفنية في المجلس الثقافي للبنان الجنوبي
سنة ۱۹٦۷ انتسب الى قسم الرسم والتصوير في معهد الفنون الجميلة – الجامعة اللبنانية، وقد تخرج منه بتقدير ممتاز سنة ١٩٧١
أوفد من قبل الجامعة إلى باريس بمنحة دراسية للتخصص في الفن من سنة ١٩٧١ – ١٩٧٤ حيث حصل على دبلوم دراسات عليها من المدرسة الوطنية العليا للفنون الزخرفية المعروفة اختصارا بـ (A.N.S.A.D.) ، ودرس النحت في البوزار على يد النحات الشهير (مارتان)
تعاطى التدريس في معهد الفنون الجميلة ببيروت منذ سنة ١٩٧٤ وحتى سنة ٢٠٠٤ ونال لقب أستاذ قبل إحالته إلى لتقاعد.
أقام معرضه الفردي الأول في (غاليري وان) سنة ۱۹۸۳ ، وأقام معرضاً شاملاً لأعماله في الصالة الزجاجية ببيروت سنة ۱۹۹۸
أنجز مجموعة جداريات بالألوان الزيتية : عاشوراء ، سقوط النصّار ، الغربة، الحرب الأهلية، الحطَّاب.
أقام معرضاً لأعماله الفوتوغرافية في قاعة الأونيسكو صيف ۲۰۰۸ (۸٤ عملاً)
شارك بحوالي ٦٠ معرضاً جماعياً في لبنان والخارج.
أصدر ٣ دواوين شعرية : لكيلا يكون الصّمت - خواطر في العشق ، ماذا يقول الليل : وكتابين نثرين : أصداف ملونة ، ورود لمثواها . وهو يعد للطبع مجموعة كتب أخرى في مواضيع متنوعة، من بينها ترجمة شعرية لرباعيات عمر الخيام
أنجزت عنه دراسة جامعية تقع في حوالي ٣٥٠ صفحة ونالت هذه الدراسة تقدير ممتاز.
شارك في ندوات عديدة فنية وثقافية ، وأُجريت معه عشرات المقابلات والحوارات مع صحف ومجلات ووسائل اعلامية مرئية ومسموعة في لبنان والعالم العربي وقد صورت أعماله في أفلام تلفزيونية تزيد مدة عرضها عن العشر ساعات.
نشرت له مجموعة من الدراسات الفنية والقصائد في عدة صحف ومجلات تصدر في بيروت.
