Salwa Zeidan was born in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon and spent most of her formative years traveling around the World and eventually settled in Abu Dhabi, where she continued to pursue her love for the arts. Zeidan works with a variety of mediums including mixed media paintings, conceptual art, sculpting and recycled art. Most of her work revolves around the promotion of peace and freedom of expression, as part of her ongoing search for higher truth, inner peace, Light and knowledge. Throughout her career of more than 25 years, Salwa has dedicated several works to peace, love and environmental awareness.

A beacon for abstract minimalist art, Salwa has been known to incorporate notions of calligraphy into her art, in some instances creating sculptures inspired by one of her most notable spiral shapes ink drawings from the 1999. The spiral movement continues to be present in Salwa’s work, be it sculptures or paintings, through a movement, which she believes, mimics that of mankind constantly revolving in an internal pendulum of everlasting evolution.
Salwa’s paintings and sculptures can be found in galleries and private collections around the world including the USA, Switzerland, Italy, France, London, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon.
She currently resides and works in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where she established her signature contemporary art gallery where she curates exhibitions and shows on an ongoing basis to highlight the works of some of the most magnificent artists in the region as well as some of the most promising emerging artists in the Middle East.

رأي شخصي

عملي الفني هو حصيلة تجربة مرتبطة باللوحة نفسها، هذه اللوحة التي ستظل بالنسبة لي طقسا من طقوس الادراك وصراعا لابتكار مفهوم مختلف لو عيى لنفسي وللعالم، وللتعبير عن ما يختزن بداخلي من هو لجس ومشاعر وقلق واضطراب وفرح حيث تتحول جميعها الى مخزون روحي وعقلي يشحنني بطاقة احاول تفريغها في اللوحة.

أعمالي الأخيرة تميل الى الاختصار لم أعد أرى ضرورة للكثير من التفاصيل التي كانت تزدحم في لوحتي... حيث أصبحت أعمالي أكثر نقاء ووضوحا وأكثر بساطة في الوقت نفسه. للون الأسود حضور بارز ومهيمن في معظم لوحاتي لأني اشعر أنه يمتلك قوة وطاقة رمزية ايحائية لا تمتلكها الألوان الأخرى... أن لحريتي واصراري على التجريب المستمر له الدور الأول في تطوير عملي واطلاعي الدائم على الكثير من التجارب العربية والعالمية أغنى تجربتي وفتح أمامي المجال لكي أكون ثقافة بصرية قوية قد يكون لها أثر ما في أعمالي.

في النهاية لا أعتقد أن باستطاعتي أن أشرح بوضوح عملي الفني واذا فعلت فلن يكون ذلك مجديا بل سيشك في مصداقية هذا العمل... اذ ان الفن في المحصلة لا يشرح ولا يفسر وان اي محاولة لشرحه من قبل الفنان نفسه لن تكون أفضل أو أكثر دقة من أي متلقي غريب... فالعمل الفني يبقى تلك المحاولة المترددة والغير أكيدة من قبل الفنان لترجمة عالمه الداخلي الغامض حيث تبقى هذه الترجمة مرهونة بمستوى وعيه الداخلي وثقافته البصرية... وحيث تبقى تلك المحاولة رمزا ً لحقيقة لا توصف بالكلام.

المرئي واللامرئي: هي ذي لوحة تبدو كأن صورتها لا صورة فيها لا يرتسم على قماشتها أي صراخ للون، أو أي صخب للحركة. يرتسم الهمس ترتسم الهينمة والوشوشة والمفاجأة.
وما تراه العين فيها هو نفسه ما لا تراه.
لوحة مرئية وغير مرئية في آن. مرئية لأنها طيف محسوس، غير مرئية لان ما تنطوي عليه لا ينقله هذا الطيف الا جزئيا ً.

اللوحة خفية بظهورها نفسه. تذكر بنوع من الصوفية الجسدية بنوع من الروحانية المادية يبدو فيها الضوء والظل كمثل موجة واحدة، ينبجسان دفعة واحدة في فيض واحد.

يتجسد الفن على القماشة كأنه تنفس وردة، أو برعم يتفتح، أو بعطر ينتشر. الطبع والطبيعة نبض واحد.
لا ينحد العمل اليدوي هنا في اليد. يتجاوزها الى الجسد كله، الى طاقته الخلافة كلها، حيث يصبح عملا ً للمخيلة وللفكر والروح. تتحقق الوحدة بين الظاهر المرئي في اللوحة والباطن غير المرئي، بين ماديتها وصوفيتها ولا نرى هنا تناقضا ً بين التقنية والصوفية، بين شهوة القلب وتأمل العقل. تسيل المادة والروح معا ً، شكلا ً واحدا ً، وبنية واحدة، في تفجير واحد. تتداخل ايقاعاتهما وتتألف وتتشابك في بناء مفتوح. كأن الوجود وأشياؤه تتنمنم وتتحول في اللوحة الى موسيقى.
وهو تحول يتم في انفعال غنائي ينطرح فيه العمل الفني على القماشة، بين أحضانها، كمثل موجة نتطرح ببساطة الماء وصفاته وحركيته بين أحضان الشاطىء.
