About
the artist:
Born
in 1960, Mona Jabbour holds a degree in Advertising
from the BUC, in Fine Arts from the University of
New York and a Masters in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute,
New York. After her study years, she comes back
to her home country to engage in the art she had
been practicing since childhood. Since then, she
exhibits regularly in Beirut and acts as a full-time
lecturer in art and design at the Lebanese American
University. She regularly attends European workshops,
namely on printmaking, ceramics and artist books.
Her insightful work revolves around Beirut in its
past, present and future.
Windows, balconies and buildings have consistently
attracted her since early career days. These themes
even when abstracted, remain a reminiscent thread
that runs through her exhibits… Hermonotypes and
monoprints are a combination of experimentation
and traditional technical methods that she developed
throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies.
She has a style of her own, used to conjure up single
imaginative, playful and creative etched images.
