Georges
Hobeika
Biography
of Fashion Designer Georges HOBEIKA
When one looks at Georges Hobeika’s creations and sees all the feminity
and sensuality which come out of every one of the gowns, one could
hardly believe that the man who is behind those creations did not
plan to work in this field, at first. In fact, Hobeika majored and
graduated in Civil Engineering, and completed his knowledge with
Architectural Art and Design.
In this case, what could have pushed G.H. towards Fashion Designing?
It turns out that he simply generously wanted to help his mom in
facing her excessive sewing projects, by sketching the dresses which
were to become what she had to sew. Which means that she relied
on him, and which also means that G.H.’s showed to be skilled at
sketching dresses, since this to-be Fashion Designer ended up sketching
his own sketching collections to be sent to the market, later on.
Hobeika kept
sketching and refining his skills until he finally gave his life
a serious turn in the Fashion direction, by travelling to Paris,
in 1994. Once there, he pursued Internships in Fashion Design at
no other than Chanel’s training classes.
And this is how George Hobeika entered in the Fashion world.
Once his name
started to get recognition, Hobeika decided to come back to his
homeland and open his own atelier there, in order to refine his
Signature and touch.
This hard work
and patience allowed the new Fashion Designer to reach Parisian
recognition by 2001.
Since that year, his Collections are awaited at every Fashion Season
in Paris.
Meanwhile, since
1995, G.H. had worked on his atelier and enlarged in order to start
creating his Haute Couture Collections, with the help of no less
than 150 workers. By 2001, his workshops included Evening Gowns,
Wedding Dresses, and Suits.
Georges Hobeika’s
2009-2010 Collection is full of bold and bright colors like pinks,
oranges, and fuchsia! Furthermore, the great idea which he exposed
and fully mastered is: mixing Black and Pink.
Black for Chic! Pink for Girly!
Last but not least, one notices the frequent flower patterns which
are used in this Collection, to soothe hard black vinyl pants here,
or in the form of a sweet and discreet embroidery on the bust of
a dress there…
Haute
Couture Fall-Winter 2009/2010:
Dresses are displayed in vibrant strong flashy colors. The material
used is always very compressed, especially on the hips and thighs.
Short dresses are sometimes completely made out of compressed squeezed
rich material. And when the dress is made out of material which
is used without additional volume in it, this volume appears in
the shape of luxurious materials around the shoulders on even around
the skirt itself.
The extra volume created by compressed rich materials is also found
on the long evening dresses, giving a soft cloudy feeling which
surrounds the entire silhouette.
Others dresses are clearly inspired by the soft petals of delicate
flowers and roses, and this appears in both the shades and soft
flowing materials which are used.
Haute
Couture Spring-Summer 2010:
Very short and sexy dresses using either vibrant warm colors or
even plain black. Sometimes a thick flashy belt gives a fresh push
to the black dress. The compressed material is still used yet with
less volume and shape.
