Antoine
Bridi (1971)
Biography
of artist painter Antoine Bridi:
Bridi has an
architectural background, lives and works in Canada.
Recently, he
exhibited in San Francisco and Montreal. The artist collected many
rewards and recognitions along his career: diploma of excellence
(Art Addiction Medial Museum – London), gold medal
(Quebec Museum of Masters and Craftsmen – Montreal),
sincere gratitude by the ministry of culture – Latvia.
He also has been elected for exhibition at the Florence Biennial
– Italy.
His talent for drawing manifested itself since his childhood. Throughout
his school days, his abilities were becoming clearly evident especially
in the portraits he made of his instructors. In addition to many
early paintings and experiments, his first professional artistic
undertaking came in 1992 when he took part in painting the Vitrage
of the “Saint Coeur” church in Badaro-Beirut.
Sports is one of his hobbies in which he has excelled during his
youth having earned at the age of 17 a black belt in martial arts.
This noble sport developed his sense of concentration, prioritizing
and control over one’s body, thus reinforcing his clearness of mind
and will-power. He equally admired music and particularly the classical
genre, so he studied the principles of both the Piano and western
chanting. He was later chosen along with a number of his peers in
Germany for a performance conducted by the renowned maestro Dr.
SHNOUR.
Back to visual art, Bridi’s current work on the development of an
artistic theory led him to the conception of a novel technique through
which he has refined the principals of Divisionism on the human
body. Lighting in Bridi’s work never reaches its dominant –white–,
which produces a luminous and chromatic effect on the sense of sight
as the process is being accomplished. The diminished lighting (yellow)
seems to highlight an ecstasy which has not yet reached the threshold
of orgasm. Lighting is no longer conditioned by
the source of the light, but is induced through the composition
of light and sombre zones. It is in this sense that we refer to
the framework composing light and obscurity.
