Antoine Khalil Bridi

Biography:

Born in 1971, in Ashrafieh-Beirut-Lebanon.

His mother’s maiden name is: Hyam Rouwayheb.
Married to Jacky Aoun, and father of 2 boys: Raphael and Mathieu.

He received both his elementary and secondary schooling in Zahrat al Ihsan school- Ashrafieh. He was later admitted to the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts : ‘Academie Libanaise des Beaus Arts’ (ALBA) from which he graduated as an Architect in 1997.

His talent for drawing manifested itself since his childhood. Throughout his school days, his abilities were becoming clearly evident especially in the portraits he made of his instructors.

At university, he was particularly inspired by instructor GUVDER to whom he still has all respect and appreciation, for he sees in him an exemplary teacher who has communicated to his students both the “Technique and Love of painting” and, to those of them with talent, has awaken the passion and the poetry within.

Bridi is competent in French and English in addition to Arabic.

Sports is one of his hobbies in which he has excelled during his youth having earned at the age of 17 a black belt in martial arts. This noble sport developed his sense of concentration, prioritizing and control over one’s body, thus reinforcing his clearness of mind and will-power.

He equally admired music and particularly the classical genre, so he joined the national conservatory in Lebanon in 1992 and studied the principles of both the Piano and western chanting. He was later chosen along with a number of his peers to represent Lebanon in Germany in a performance conducted by the renowned maestro Dr. SHNOUR.

His architectural career, which started in his early university days in 1991, includes principal contributions to major projects:

* The ZUBLIN company’s Lebanese University project;
* ERICSSON’s power feeding buildings which were set up in numerous Lebanese cities and villages;
* Restoration of a number of buildings and monuments in downtown Beirut, in coopertaion with SOLIDERE.
* Special studies for the University of Balamand (3D Modeling and Mapping)
* A number of Independent undertakings of private palaces and villa’s in both Lebanon and the KSA.

Back to contemporary art, Bridi became adept in the techniques of Oil painting, Aquarelle, Pastel and Graphism.

In addition to many early paintings and experiments, his first professional artistic undertaking came in 1992 when he took part in painting the Vitrage of the “Saint Coeur” church in Badaro-Beirut.

In the year 2000, he went on exhibiting his artwork regularly.
His First participation was in the ‘Beirut union center for social development’ in Gemmayzeh, where he additionally gave lessons on contemporary art until the end of 2001.

He was elected in 2004 as secretary of the ADG (Association of Development of Gemmayzeh) art committee.

Antoine Bridi’s current work on the development of an artistic theory led him to the conception of a novel technique through which he has refined the principals of Divisionism on the human body.

Among his private collection are a number of paintings for: Archimandrite Issa Khoury, General Kallas, Mr. Edyy Motran, Mr. Saad Hariri and Lady Ghana Daaouk.

Antoine Bridi demands the inclusion of an artistic branch to the currently deployed scholastic curriculum. He believes that this would give a chance to those, with both artistic tendencies and genuine talent, to apply themselves with the basics and principals of art, thus making way for a more robust career and specialization in all fields of art and architecture.

He equally considers strange that the contemporary artistic hallmarks are not included in these school curriculums, especially that these hallmarks represent the cornerstone of the modern artistic renaissance in both Lebanon and around the world.
